benté-nuwebé, balìsong: Word: bente-nuwebe: from the spanish veintinueve, twenty-nine. The number refers to the average length of the weapon in centimeters when folded out. Also known as balisong. Derived from the Tagalog: balì, broken and sungay: horn.

Through folding, the knife will be revealed. During the american occupation the knife became famous outside of the philippines as fan knife or butterfly knife.

kris, keris: n. a certain kind of blade shape.
Kris are forged double edged bladed weapons, used in the Philippines, Malaysia and Indonesia. Normally created as swords or knifes. Even though they come in various shapes and sizes, all kris have a wavy blade. Their unique shape allows the holder to more easily accelerate the weapons when it is inside the enemy's body. Thus cuts are more facile to be performed.
